The Lord Jagannath Temple is an important Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu, in Puri in the state of Odisha on the eastern coast of India. The present temple was rebuilt from the 10th century onwards, on the site of an earlier temple, and begun by Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva, the first king of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. Lord Jagannath is a deity worshipped in regional Hindu traditions in India and Bangladesh as part of a triad along with his brother Balabhadra and sister, devi Subhadra. Jagannath within Odia Hinduism is the supreme god, Purushottama, Para Brahman. To most Vaishnava Hindus, particularly the Krishnaites, Lord Jagannath is an abstract representation of Lord Krishna, sometimes as the avatar of Lord Krishna or Vishnu, to some Shaiva and Shakta Hindus, he is a symmetry-filled tantric form of Bhairava
চার ধামের অন্যতম ধাম হল পুরী। এই পুরীতেই রয়েছে জগৎ বিখ্যাত মহাপ্রভু জগন্নাথ দেবের মন্দির যা জগন্নাথ ধাম নামে সুপরিচিত। ওড়িশার পুরীতে অবস্থিত হলেও সমগ্র বাঙালীর কাছে জগন্নাথ মন্দিরের গুরুত্ব অপরিসীম। ভগবান বিষ্ণুর আর এক রূপ শ্রী জগন্নাথ। বর্তমান মন্দিরটি পুনর্গঠন শুরু হয় দশম শতাব্দী থেকে, গঙ্গা বংশের প্রথম নৃপতি মহারাজ অনন্ত বর্মন দেবের হাত ধরে। এই মন্দিরের গর্ভ গৃহে ভগবান শ্রী পুরুষোত্তম ভগ্নি সুভদ্রা ও ভ্রাতা বলরামের সাথে অধিষ্ঠান করে আছেন। জগন্নাথ মন্দিরের সাথে মহাপ্রভু শ্রী চৈতন্যদেবের নাম বিশেষ ভাবে জড়িয়ে আছে।
